March 06, 2009: I looked through several pregnancy books and was given several others. This was by far my favorite pregnancy book. Most every other book seemed intent on scaring the mother into following particular advice, eating certain foods or abstaining from activities. This book was more of an overall encouragement of good health and little bits of information about fetal development that I did not pick up from other sources. Another poster suggested that she preferred reading stuff online, but I find that there are more horror stories on the internet than need be. This was a comforting read. I read it week by week aloud to my husband and he enjoyed hearing the sections about fetal development and what the father may be thinking about or feeling. It was good dialogue starter since my husband really didn't know what he should be trying to talk to me about and didn't even know where to begin with asking questions about what was going on with my body. I absolutely love this book and give it as a pregnancy gift to friends and family.
